GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Performs emergency and non-emergency call taking in the Arkansas Trauma Communications Center.

 

ENTRY LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS

Current Arkansas EMT-P license or current Arkansas Registered Nurse license in good standing.

Meets MEMS attendance and punctuality policy

Minimum of 2 years full time EMP-P experience or emergency nursing (ED or ICU) experience

Experience with on-line pre-hospital medical communications

Excellent communication, interpersonal and human relations skills

Ability to multitask difficult and complex communications

Conversant in the English language and have the ability to clearly articulate information.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Report directly to the ATCC Supervisor

Available for duty shifts as scheduled by the ATCC Supervisor

Have 24 hour call availability in the case of disasters

Attend and participate in required meetings and submit a report on quality and performance improvement as established by the ATCC Supervisor

Work closely with the ATCC Supervisor to develop and support the mission of ATCC to develop a statewide emergency response system, and

Perform other duties as assigned by the ATCC Medical Director and ATCC Supervisor

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

Have in depth knowledge of EMS protocols, Trauma Pre-hospital Triage Protocol and available medical resources

Have functional knowledge of radio, telephone, IP and other necessary forms of communication equipment necessary for the purpose of the ATCC

Have knowledge of performance indicators and quality review indictors pertinent to ATCC operations.

Have knowledge of all rules, regulations, and policies as established by the ADH and the ATCC Medical Director

Ability to remain calm during stressful situations

Ability to speak clearly

Ability to present caring and professional image over the telephone

Ability to interact well with others

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Generally works a 12 hour assigned shift.

 

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

Must be able to sit or stand at assigned dispatch station during 12 hour shift.
